Ray of Hope Appeal - Just for Children

If your class, school, or club do a fundraising event for the Ray of Hope Appeal, we will arrange, where possible, to bring Ruby along to meet the children - either before or after the event. (Ruby a retired racing Greyhound is our mascot for the appeal, she is a cancer survivor, since having her leg amputated at the Royal Dick Veterinary Hospital). We are happy to bring Ruby along for a visit within the Glasgow / Edinburgh and Central Belt areas of Scotland however we will consider a journey outwith these areas, please contact us first for more information.

The schools or club who organise a fundraising event for the Ray of Hope Appeal will be invited to enter the Ray of Hope picture competition. The competition is open to children of all ages to draw or paint an A4 picture of Ruby and their 'vision' of a pet hospital. The winner will be chosen by David Rider of the Royal Dick Veterinary Hospital, we will then arrange for the winning picture to be professionally framed and the winner will be invited to present their picture to the staff at the Royal Dick Veterinary hospital. This competition wil close at the end of June 2011.

For more details or to request a visit from Ruby please write to:

All Schools or after school clubs that fundraise will be acknowledged on our website.

A personal visit to a school or club, will depend on Ruby's continued health. Her wellbeing is of utmost importance and although we are happy for children to meet her, it should be remembered that Ruby is an elderly dog and cannot stand for more than 5 mins and therefore her actual appearance will be brief and unfortunately children will not be able to stroke her. Dawn Murray (Rubys owner) will be happy to talk to the children and answer any questions they may have with regard to Rubys condition, Greyhounds or animal welfare. Ruby will only be available for visits between March and June 2011

If you would like to request a visit from Ruby please fill in this FORM
